Profile

Arisa Sakai was born in Japan. She obtained her Diploma with highest honors at the Berlin University of Arts in 2013. She continued studying on the Soloist course “Konzertexam” with Jacques Rouvier , and graduated in 2016.

She has received prestigious scholarships from the Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artists, the Meiji Yasuda Cultural Foundation in japan, and the Yamaha Music Foundation in japan.

She started receiving piano lessons at the age of five. In her homeland she studied with Claudio Soares. She won several prizes at the PTNA Piano Competition in Japan. At the age of eleven she received second prize in the Japan-China Friendship Student competition. She continued to win the Most Promising Artist Award in the 8th Hamamatsu International Piano Academy competition, first prize in the 3rd Yamaha Junior Piano Competition and the Jacques Rouvier Special Award in the Fukuda Yasuko Competition.

The following year she won first prize 6th SAKAI International Piano Competition in Japan. At age 18 she also started winning prizes abroad: second prize in the 22nd Marsala International Piano Competition in Italy, third prize in the 15th Rotaract-Rotary International Piano Competition in Spain and Diploma of Finalist at the 57th Busoni International Competition.

She was Semifinalist at the 65th Geneva International Competition. She also received first prize in the 84th Bellan International Music Competition in France.

She has been selected as a CHANEL Pygmalion Days Artist by CHANEL Foundation in japan.

She is also an Artist of the Japan Foundation for Regional Art Activities.

She has performed at a variety of music festivals, including the Chopin Festival, Macon Music Festival, La FolleJournée au JAPON. She has also performed together with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Ribeirão Preto Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Gunma Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra Nagoya and the Modigliani Quartet.



Debut Album “Ravel Piano Concerto in G major” is chosen ”Specially Selected Disc” by Japanese music magazine for discs ”Record Geijyutsu”

New Album “Sehnsucht nach Leipzig’’will be released on July 2023.
