In '93, during his studying at the Kunitachi College of Music, Hiroshi Arakawa entered the Paris Conservatory on the recommendation of A. Marion and I. Ribera. After graduation with premier prix from the school, he won a prize at the Japan Wind and Percussion Competition in '97.
His performance of the Sonatine by P. Boulez met with high praise from the composer himself.
In '06, he performed as a soloist with Mr. Hirosi Aoshima and New Japan Philharmonic for famous TV program “The most useful school in the world - The Mozart effect”. Moreover, he recorded film music for Mr. Hayao Miyazaki’movie such as ”Spirited away” and “Howl's Moving Castle” with the New Japan Philharmonic under the baton of Mo. Joe Hisaishi who is very popular film music composer in the world. Since '09, he has been a principal flute of the New Japan Philharmonic which has Mo. Seiji Ozawa as a honorary conductor laureate.
Recent years, he actively works on composition.
