Michiyo Iida (soprano singer)

 

After graduating from Kyoto University, she studied vocal music with Rieko Hikida, M. Lantieri, Prof.S. Gione, and K.S.W.Slabbert, German Lied singing with D. Lutz and C. Warderdorf, Spanish song singing with Prof. Yoichi Hattori, music analysis with C. Stanisheff, K. Busch, and Masahiro Izaki, and conducting with Masahiro Izaki.

 She has won the Gold Prize of the Japan Italian Vocal Consolso, the Grand Prize of the Iizuka Music Competition, and many other competitions. Winner of the Aichi Prefectural Art Prize. She starred in numerous operas that remain in the history of Japan music, such as the Nikikai anniversary opera "Lulu", the Nissei Theater anniversary opera "Ainadamar", and the Suntory Hall anniversary opera "The Bakery Raid", and was acclaimed in "Music Gendai" magazine as "an amazing talent that attractively portrays multi-layered female images with outstanding singing ability and yin and yang free vocalization", and with her overwhelming presence, she contributed to winning the Art Grand Prize of the opera in which she starred. In 2015, she was selected as one of the world's 100 best divas by Ongakuno-tomo magazine.

Not only in operas, she also has sung many symphonies and masses as a solist.
