Rikako Murata graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. In 1996 received a scholarship from DAAD to study at Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) with Pascal Devoyon. After graduating with unanimous top honors in 2000, she continued studying on the Soloist course“Konzertexam”. She is prize winner at several international competitions like Maria Canals International Piano Competition, Porto International Piano Competition etc. 

In 1998 her performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto KV467 with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra received high acclaim and she has been invited back every year since. She has already more than 20 appearances at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall.

Rikako is a devoted chamber musician, and has been invited by many international festivals to perform with musicians.Since 2006, she has performed in increasing numbers of concerts as a duo with Pascal Devoyon, including numerous invitations from festivals in Europe and Japan.Since 2008 3 recording were released and 2nd and 3rd CD won “CD Art’s prize”. 

Since 2003, she has been teaching at the Berlin University of Arts.
