At the age of 12 Takeo Sato began his career as a concert guitarist playing concert tours in Europe and Asia. 2 years later as the youngest participant he was awarded the 1st prize at the renowned "International Guitar Contest Bath" in England. Before entering the Music Academy he accomplished several achievements, amongst them three 1st prizes at the national solo and duo category of the national "Jugend musiziert" competition, prizes at the "Anna Amalia Guitar Competition" in Weimar, "41st International Guitar Competition Tokyo" in Japan, the 1st prize at the International Guitar Competition Johann Sebastian Bach in Reisbach and the special prize given by the Ministry for Education, Art and Science of Saarland, state of Germany.


 


Takeo Sato studied with Prof. Ansgar Krause privately then as a junior student at the Academy for Theatre and Music Saarbrücken. He continued studying at the Academy for Music Augsburg with Prof. Franz Halász and graduated with honours. Takeo Sato post graduated at the Royal Conservatory The Hague under the direction of Prof. Zoran Dukic. In addition he took complementary master classes with composers, guitar teachers and specialists for old music such as Toshio Hosokawa, David Russel, Alvaro Pierri, Carlo Marchione, Hubert Käppel, Ricardo Gallén, Stefano Grondona and Eduardo Egüez.


 


While post graduating Takeo Sato assisted Prof. Franz Halász at the Academy for Music Augsburg. He had the opportunity to gather crucial experience while working with one of the most successful guitar classes of Europe. Meanwhile he is directing his own guitar class at the Leopold Mozart Centre for Music of the University Augsburg.


 


Takeo Sato plays a guitar built by his father, the Japanese luthier Kazuo Sato (www.satoguitar.com).
