Profile

Born in Ithaca, New York, Yoé Miyazaki spent her childhood in Paris, where she started to play the violon at the age of three. She studied at the Toho Gakuen High School of Music and subsequently obtained her graduate degree from the Toho Gakuen University of Music in Tokyo. Among her principal teachers one finds the prestigious master Masafumi Hori, together with Hiroyuki Yamaguchi and Sumiko Edo. Soon after her graduation, Yoé Miyazaki obtained a full scholarship and was invited to play the violin at the Tanglewood Music Festival under the supervision of Seiji Ozawa. Following this American experience, she entered the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Genève, where she worked with Jean-Pierre Wallez, master connoisseur in French music. There, she obtained the Premier Prix de Virtuosité (First Prize of Music Performance) with distinction. She gained in-depth specific chamber music experience under the guidance of Gàbor Takàcs and an equally substantial training in both Modern and Baroque music with Hansheinz Schneeberger. As a performing artist, Yoé Miyazaki gives concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, in Japan and in many countries in Europe, particularly in Switzerland and in France.

She held her recitals at Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara(2007-)、Ginza Oji Hall(2008-)、Casals Hall(2009-)、Hamarikyu Concert Hall(2010-12) and other venues in Japan, and was widely acclaimed for her performances. Furthermore, by optimizing her lifestyle of having two bases, namely, Switzerland and Japan, she has released four CD’s from Octavia Japan since 2008. She has travelled around Europe to follow the footsteps of the composers, and learn about the source of music and released her DVD Series, which use contents and photos taken during these trips. In the Series, she performs with Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra pursuing wide range of activities. Between 2010 and 2012, she performed with her mentor, Jean Pierre Walles and other performers as “Yoé’s Project”, the piano quintet. She carried out her concerts in various European cities. She is discovering fine piano quintet music in France and is recording them. At the planned 2013 concert, Yoé Miyazaki will actively introduce the secret masterpieces in Japan, including performances of Paganini “I Palpiti Op.13" (Violin and Orchestra) and Faure’s musical suite, “Violin Concerto D Minor Op.14", as she works to penetrate and further develop music culture.
